Working directly with the General Manager / Head of Children's Public Health Nursing, this post will provide operational leadership and service management for clinical and non-clinical services and staff for specified teams, within a geographic locality, within the children’s portfolio of the Children's and Community Directorate.
The post will support both the General Manager / Head of Children's Public Health Nursing in the strategic lead for the designated teams to ensure SAGE (Safeguarding, Audit, Governance and Education), performance, targets and quality standards are met within the services and support for the future commissioning process. The post holder will be a key point of contact for the relationship management with commissioners, locality GPs, ICB, Local Authority, Family Hubs, schools and community groups in relation to highly complex, contentious service-related information.
Main duties of the job
* To provide leadership for the 0-19 (25) Services in localities of Middlesbrough and to ensure high quality, safe and effective services are delivered by the teams.
* Promote effective collaborative working relationships with health, public health, children and young people services and social care staff in primary / community care and those in other statutory and voluntary services.
* Responsible for safe delivery of designated services within the Directorate .
* Plan and organise strategies to enable children needs to be met in a timely and contemporaneous way and to ensure the delivery of children community services by the multi-professional team within the national quality requirements.
* Deputise for the General Manager / Head of Children's Public Health Nursing when appropriate..
* Provide support and clinical supervision as required.
* To support the creation of a work-based learning environment and culture that promotes coaching and reflective practice.
* Promote the needs of children with SEND, young people with SEND and their families in the development of community child health services.
* Deliver a place-based approach with Key Delivery Partners (KDPs) to support the needs of Children, Young People and Families alongside building community resilience.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC Register
* Nursing experience and training at an appropriate specialist nursing level
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Professional knowledge acquired through degree/diploma or equivalent experience at degree level.
* Highly developed specialist knowledge relevant to working with children and families underpinned by theory and experience
Desirable criteria
* Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Qualification (HV / SN) or equivalent post graduate qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
* Proven managerial and leadership experience within NHS
* Significant experience of leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams including Community Nursing/public health and Medical staff
* Project Management experience
* Experience of planning and managing risk in a project environment
* Proven record of developing change and implementation of innovative approaches to new or existing services
* Experience of budgetary management
* Experience of using motivational and persuasive skills to gain and maintain buy-in to a project
* Experience of developing and leading service developments that impact across the wider health economy
* Experience of working across agencies
