To support our progress, we are currently recruiting for a Payroll Supervisor (30 hours per week) to come and join our team at Head Office, Ibstock, LE67 6HS Job Purpose: The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day payroll operations of the organisation. This includes supervising a team of payroll specialists to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee salaries, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation, while adhering to legislative and audit requirements. Collaborating with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure accurate employee records and a seamless payroll experience. This position is critical in maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on time. Key Accountabilities: Overseeing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance and key deadlines are being met, including but not limited to, acting as a reviewer for the team and processing of key payrolls Support with Audit requests, working with the team to collate and provide evidence. Review and monitor statutory compliance and audit compliance. Ensuring relevant processes are being adhered to and are fit for purpose. Support with legislative compliance checks such as National Living Wage and, if required, HMRC queries. Managing payroll query escalations, working to identify root cause and provide long-term resolution Support in driving continuous growth within the team, upskilling and mentoring the team to act with autonomy and be able to handle complex queries Identify continuous improvement opportunities to develop efficient and accurate payroll processes Work with key stakeholders to support in delivering and improving payroll processes, identify impact and long term resolution Work closely with the people team to ensure the end-to-end colleague lifecycle meets relevant payroll deadlines, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Deputise in the absence of the Payroll Manager, approving payrolls and managing escalations. Develop/review/update standard operating procedures Support the People Data & System Analyst in testing and implementing upgrades/patches to the payroll software, to ensure statutory compliance and fixes to system processes. Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Essential: Experience of working on a high volume, multi-site payroll, within a fast-paced environment. Up to date knowledge of Payroll legislation and best practices Previous experience of working with a HRIS Payroll system Intermediate/advanced excel skills Be able to demonstrate success of building good relationships with stakeholders across the business, internally and externally Excellent communication and grammatical skills Previous experience of leading/managing a team Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines and prioritise effectively A team player with strong attention to detail Proactive nature, & forward thinking, positive disposition & flexible.
