Your Purpose
We’re now looking to recruit a Utilities Engineering Project Manager to join our brilliant Supply Chain Excellence Team.
Role Overview:
The Utilities Engineering Project Manager is responsible for the scoping and delivery of major strategic utilities capital projects across Western Europe. This role involves defining project scope, preparing cost estimates, developing programme schedules, and ensuring quality standards and performance benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
Utilities Investment and Optimisation Strategy:
1. Collaborate with site operational teams to understand site Masterplans and develop a comprehensive utilities investment and optimisation strategy for each site.
2. Work within the supply chain capital plan to align with available Capex.
3. Utilize robust project management principles covering safety, cost, schedule management, performance delivery, risk management, scope definition, environmental impact, and procurement.
4. Deliver capital proposals that support the business in line with the current Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
Management of Major Utilities Projects:
1. Oversee major and strategic utilities projects, including managing third-party vendors, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
2. Act as the key interface between the business and engineering/construction teams, ensuring all change requests and modifications are processed appropriately.
3. Deliver projects on time, within budget, and meeting performance targets.
Resource Prioritisation and Stakeholder Management:
1. Prioritise resources effectively, working as the project team representative with all stakeholders to ensure that key project objectives are achieved.
2. Manage project technicians, craftsmen, and contract project managers assigned to the project, ensuring efficient use of resources and clear communication of progress.
Process Shutdown and Restart Management
1. Manage the safe shutdown, modification, and restart of processes with minimal impact on production targets and schedules.
2. Ensure full compliance with legal requirements throughout the project lifecycle, from planning to execution.
Post-Project Benefits Monitoring and Documentation:
1. Lead the monitoring, analysis, and verification of project benefits upon completion, ensuring performance guarantees are met.
2. Ensure all new processes are thoroughly documented with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and that appropriate training is delivered to personnel involved in the operation and maintenance of new systems.
About You:
1. 5 years of experience in a technical utilities department
2. 5 years of experience scoping and delivering large utilities capital projects
3. Deep experience in project management execution processes
4. Strong commercial awareness and expertise in UK Engineering Contracts, particularly JCT and MF1
5. Strong contractor health and safety management skills
6. Proven ability to set utilities investment and optimisation strategy for production sites
7. Excellent project management, resource coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
