During the last 6 years we have grown from 46 to 111 pupils. We were given a grading of ‘good’ in our 2022 Ofsted inspection and since then have been focussing on supporting every pupil to believe they can achieve if they have the right attitude. Our pupils are expected to work hard and behave in an exemplary fashion. We support them all to aspire and be ambitious; we want our entire school community to ‘step into greatness’. You will be required to work with small Key Stage 3 and 4 classes, with many students working below their expected level. Batchwood School is a special needs mixed secondary school for students in years 7 to 11 with Social Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH) as well as some of our students having a range of cognitive and learning difficulties. The current student roll is 111, organised into 13 classes of approximately 7 students supported by a teaching assistant when available. We are a ‘listening’ school and place emphasis upon thinking and talking through problems, finding solutions and being part of a whole community. We passionately believe that the students are at the heart of the school and that the staff are here to meet the individual needs of all the students.
