Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Finance Assistant on a fixed-term placement for one year, with the possibility of extension or a permanent position, starting in August 2025.
Main Purpose of the Role
To assist with the efficient running of the Finance department.
General Duties and Responsibilities
* Monitoring accounts and credit card mailboxes, handling incoming queries.
* Supporting the month-end process, including journals and recharges.
* Performing monthly reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts.
* Managing budget holder administration.
* Assisting the Management Accountant with utility accrual calculations, including data entry.
* Supporting the Purchase Ledger.
* Handling banking tasks such as cash counting and deposits (catering and charity).
* Assisting the Credit Controller with posting incoming payments and issuing receipts.
* Supporting the year-end audit process.
* Assisting with bill runs, including inputting charges, checking bills, deposit refunds, and taxi recharges.
* Managing trip codes, ensuring backup documents are in place, completing monthly reconciliations, and managing trip floats.
* Performing other reasonable management requests.

Hours of Work
Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with a 60-minute unpaid lunch break (37.5 hours per week).
Remuneration
£12.21 per hour
Holidays
23 days plus bank holidays, increasing to 28 days plus bank holidays after 2 years of service.
