As an IT Support Engineer at Thatcham Research, no two days are the same! You’ll tackle a range of technical issues, from hardware malfunctions to software glitches and network failures. This role offers lots of variety and provides the opportunity to be part of a growing, purpose-driven organisation operating within an evolving industry.
What you'll be doing:
* Expert Support: Provide exceptional IT support to our end users, diagnosing and resolving software, networking, and hardware issues efficiently.
* Proactive Maintenance: Conduct scheduled and preventative maintenance to keep all equipment in top condition. Ensure security patching and compliance to safeguard against breaches.
* Efficient Ticket Management: Manage IT tickets effectively, prioritizing them according to SLAs to ensure timely resolutions.
* User Training & Collaboration: Offer training and guidance to users on IT systems and services. Collaborate with the IT team to develop and implement robust IT policies and procedures.
* Data Security: Ensure data access is secure and compliant with ISO27001-ISO17025 standards.
* Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of the latest IT developments and recommend innovative improvements.
Skills and experience we think you’ll need to be successful:
* Proven Experience: Proven experience in an on-site technical support role, with a proven track record of resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
* Problem-Solving Prowess: Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve technical issues efficiently.
* Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Active Directory, Azure AD, Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, laptop builds, iOS mobile devices, and endpoint management.
* Security Savvy: Solid understanding of IT security principles.
* Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and guide users effectively.
* Team Spirit: Experience working in an IT support team with a medium-sized infrastructure (400+ devices, 250+ users).
* Independence & Collaboration: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

When we work
Our standard working hours are 8:30 - 16:30 Monday - Thursday, early finish on Friday - 8:30 - 15:45 (The team works together to ensure cover is available from 8:00 – 17:00 by flexing their start/finish time by 30 minutes either way).
