We are delighted to advertise the post of a Band 7 Specialist Elderly care Physiotherapist to join our team at the Cumberland Infirmary.
You will work in a supportive, friendly environment alongside other specialist leads to support the in-patient service at the Cumberland Infirmary. We are keen to provide development opportunities across the four pillars of practice for the right candidate to further develop this complex specialism.
Main Duties of the Job
The specialist nature of this role will require the post-holder to act as a clinical resource for other therapists and health professionals.
1. To undertake a team leader role, in consultation with the line manager, in planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating the Physiotherapy Service provided to acute elderly care on a day-to-day basis.
2. To be clinically and professionally responsible for highly specialised physiotherapy assessment and treatment, working as an autonomous practitioner managing patients with a wide range of highly complex conditions, within the elderly care, frailty, and dementia wards determining clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment indicated.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Chartered Society of Physiotherapy recognised degree or equivalent in physiotherapy.
* Health and Care Professions Council registered.
* Leadership or management experience/qualification.
* Evidence of post-registration education, pertinent to specialism at MSc level or equivalent.
Experience & Knowledge
* Relevant recent postgraduate experience, working in an acute hospital at Band 6 grade or higher.
* Proven post-graduate skills in the assessment, treatment, and management of elderly/frail conditions including in on-call situations.
* Experience of student supervision in the role of clinical educator.
* Awareness of key NHS drivers (Nationally and Locally) for change and implications for physiotherapy services in MSK care including the NHS Long Term Plan.
* Responsibility for an area of work, e.g. health & safety, in-service training, clinical audit, R&D.
* Evidence of research skills for service development/audit/managing change.
* Deputising for team leader.
* Appraisal and mentoring of staff.
* Awareness of current initiatives within the Local and National health economy.
* Advanced clinical reasoning skills and knowledge of current evidence-based practice relating to specialism.
* Evidence of relevant CPD.
* Knowledge of quality issues and CQC.
* Central policy related to specialist area e.g. NICE or national guidelines.
* Use of clinical audit and implementation of findings.
* Understanding of complaints handling.
* Understanding of equality and diversity.
* Membership of a relevant special interest group.
* Experience of managing team and change management.
* Ability to build effective teams.
* High level of organisational and time management skills.
