Social Worker/Senior Social Worker Pre Birth Team
Team Grade 7/8 (SCP 26-36)
£36,124 - £45,718 per annum plus payment of an Essential Car User Allowance of £1239 per annum and 2% Recruitment and Retention Allowance.
We are expanding our team! It's been almost 4 years since we started as a specialist pre-birth social work team. During this time we have been noted by Ofsted for our ‘exemplary’ practice and maintained a steady and stable workforce delivering specialist intervention to a small number of families. We are now looking to recruit an additional social worker so that we can offer intervention to those who need it most.
Together for Children works on behalf of Sunderland City Council to deliver children’s services in the city.
Our company values are Child-Centred, Respectful, Creative, and Transparent, and this is what you can expect when you join us.
We are an Ofsted rated Outstanding service, ‘where all workers have reasonable caseloads and are well supported by visible and approachable managers; as a result, social workers are supported to carry out innovative work with children’ (Ofsted 2021).
You must have a minimum of one year’s post-qualifying experience. Completion of ASYE is desirable, but not essential.
You will work in an established and stable team made up of a team manager, assistant team manager, and 8 social workers as well as one child and family worker. You will work with a limited caseload of around 12. You will deliver our pre-birth model that has been specially developed in-house on the back of Born into Care research and linking in with the most recent NHS guidance as well as incorporating parents' strategies and intervention. We run our team under the Signs of Safety model and whilst knowledge and experience of this is desired, it is not essential.
You will have an established track record in safeguarding and multi-agency working, whilst also having knowledge and understanding of legislation which underpins social work and pre-birth practice. The team's purpose is to carry out robust pre-birth and post-birth assessments. Our work consists of supporting unborn babies, babies, and their families who are identified as Child in Need under s17 of the Children Act 1989 and Child Protection under s47 of the Children Act 1989 and Cared for Children under s20, s31, and s38 of the Children Act 1989.
