Location United Kingdom Lincolnshire Lincoln Remote vs. Office Office/Site only Company Siemens Energy Limited Organization Gas Services Business Unit Distributed Full / Part time Full-time Experience Level Not defined Job Profile – Manufacturing Engineer / Technician (Component Manufacture/ Manufacturing Quality Support) Location – Lincoln, UK A Snapshot of Your Day For the Manufacturing Engineer role you would require knowledge of modern machining and manufacturing processes, NC programming, Tool and Fixture Design, ideally from a low-volume, high accuracy manufacturing environment Aerospace, Power Generation. Candidates must be highly motivated, be a good problem solver and be able to work both independently and in a team environment.The Manufacturing Technician would be operating within the Manufacturing Engineering Department to be the focal point of shop floor Quality related matters in their respective areas of operation. Dedicated to the elimination of poor Quality in manufacturing processes. Processing of Quality Control related documentation plus the inspection of components and associated processes. Will play a vital role in the development of quality awareness within manufacturing cells. How You'll Make an Impact
1. Definition of manufacturing processes for Gas Turbine components and sub-assemblies.
2. Creation & maintenance of supporting documentation to include Manufacturing Routings, Layouts and instructions.
3. NC programming of CMM’s, multi-axis Turning, Milling, Grinding and EDM machines1.
4. Define, perform and implement Quality investigations into non-conformance through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
5. Knowledge of safe working environment and implementation of current H&S legislation into working practices.
6. Definition and procurement of jigs, fixtures, tooling, gauging & lifting equipment.
7. Inspection activities including the creation of non-conformance reports, in process and final inspection protocols.
8. Collaborate with supporting departments such as Design, Assembly, Quality, Procurement and external suppliers.
9. Generate and implement cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
10. Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques and processes.
11. Whilst not crucial to have experience in all of these fields, the more that can be demonstrhelpfulore beneficial to the business. NC machine controls include Fanuc, Yasnac, Siemens, Heidenhain, Mazakatrol, Makino (Easygrind) and AGIE EDM.
12. With their team will encourage an awareness of the importance of quality by their commitment and approach to component manufacture quality related matters. Will be an integral part of the manufacturing group within the area of responsibility and will work together to achieve the relevant KPI’s.
13. Will be instrumental in the reduction of NCC and awareness of quality ownership by reporting and presenting problems and more importantly ensuring sufficient focus, support and effort is made and is given in the pursuance of satisfactory solutions to problems and fault reports.
14. Will constantly work with the Department and Cell Managers, Engineers, operators and fitters on the reporting of problems and the relevant corrective actions to reduce NCC.
15. To confirm the dimensional integrity of components / sub assemblies and review the documentation content of the process to resolve adequacy of process instructions ensuring the associated plannings reflect the necessary information to provide a consistent level of quality.
16. Where components / sub assembly inspection reveals discrepancies, they will assist in the investigation(s) as to the root cause and will provide component groups with the on line inspection criteria to ensure the process does not drift again.
17. To measure the work area quality by supervising the process capability, liaising closely with process validation, source substantiation, PPQ and manufacturing teams.
18. Will give support to the first article inspection requirements, key feature measurements, supplier surveillance, final inspection and receiving inspections when necessary to fulfil the overall targets and achievements of the Manufacturing department. Using their knowledge and experience of the processes randomly select components / assemblies for sample inspection
19. Will be focal point within the associated work area for quality related issues constantly collaborating with Quality management and component group management in identifying priorities and workload schedules to the satisfaction of the teams internal and external customers. Where appropriate will attend group meetings on a regular basis to gain a full and concise knowledge of production programmes and priorities.
What You Bring
20. Process / statistical control, customer care skills, SAP, interpersonal skill, process FMEA.
21. Several years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer / inspection technician / team leader / machine operative. Knowledge of Quality Control and inspection techniques is essential.
22. Minimum of a time served apprenticeship, NVQ level 3 in engineering or equivalent qualification. (Technician)
23. Minimum of HNC qualification (or higher) in relevant subject (Engineer)
