Maintenance Technician - Mechanically Bias
Smart Solutions are working with a global leader who are seeking a Maintenance Technician with a Mechanically Bias to join their team based in Merthyr. You will provide first line maintenance response to all breakdowns within the fastest possible time, minimising any disturbance to operations.
Duties of the Maintenance Technician:
1. Perform maintenance and repairs on site machinery and equipment, both proactively (e.g., Preventative Maintenance) and reactively (e.g., breakdowns).
2. Support the installation, commissioning, and upgrade of mechanical equipment.
3. Ensure safe working practices at all times, adhering to health and safety protocols, procedures, permits, and safety systems.
4. Diagnose mechanical faults and equipment failures, identifying root causes and communicating them to relevant teams.
5. Collaborate effectively with the maintenance team and external contractors to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
6. Handover any incomplete tasks at the end of each shift to ensure continuity.
7. Assist with safety improvements and maintain compliance with company policies.
8. Record all maintenance activities and refer to technical manuals, drawings, and records as needed.
Requirements of the Maintenance Technician:
1. Educated to ONC/OND/HND/HNC/NVQIII or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Maintenance Engineering.
2. Maintenance technician experience in an industrial environment is essential.
3. Knowledge of hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and mechanical components.
4. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively according to workload.
5. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team.
6. Full driving licence (due to business location).
