The Role
Registered Mental Health Nurse is responsible for the application of the Framework of the Nursing Process to deliver high standards of client / patient nursing care for patients with a range of mental disorders, substance misuse, learning disability or co-morbidity, under the clinical supervision of the caseload holder / charge nurse / team leader, senior charge nurse or practitioner. The registered nurse has delegated responsibility for the appraisal and clinical supervision of students and clinical / healthcare support workers in provision of care and treatment within a defined clinical service, under the management and leadership of the team leader / senior charge nurse or practitioner
Additional for those with 2 years post registration
Acting as Named Nurse (or equivalent), responsible for the application of the framework of the Nursing Process to ensure a high standard of client / patient care, delegated by the charge nurse / team leader, senior charge nurse or practitioner who provides clinical supervision to the post holder and retains overall responsibility for patient care. Co-ordinating and supervising a small team of junior nurses or practitioners, students and clinical support workers in delivering care. Where required the post holder will undertake a delegated range of duties of the charge nurse, team leader / senior charge nurse or practitioner in their absence, including taking charge of the clinical area

What we'll need you to bring
1. Registered Mental Health Nurse with valid NMC Registration
2. The post holder will be required to demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative
3. Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
4. Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
5. Excellent time management skills
6. Working knowledge of basic information technology
It would be great if you also have
7. Up to date with NHS mandatory training
8. Evidence of continuing professional development at Registration level
9. Evidence experience of working / placement in Mental Health
10. Recent experience in old age psychiatry
11. Experience of supporting people living with dementia
12. Demonstrate an understanding of current nursing issues and developments
13. Utilise knowledge and skills of evidence based practice within the workplace
14. Working knowledge of Mental Health Care and Treatment (Scotland) Act
15. The ability to work using own initiative to support improved outcomes for patients and colleagues
16. Clinical practice skills Phlebotomy, ECG interpretation etc.
17. Knowledge of basis IT systems Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel

Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Older Adult Mental Health Ward within Cleland Hospital.
The working pattern for this role 5 days out of 7.
