We are currently recruiting for an experienced 16 Hour Event Porter to join our Conference and Banqueting Team at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa. Working in our event spaces, you will be expected to cover a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, and over night.
Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is one of Scotland's leading 5 star hotels. As the largest 5 star hotel, we also have the biggest banqueting and meeting facilities of any hotel in Edinburgh with a capacity of up to 500 and our One Square Restaurant and bar. You will join a fun loving and passionate team who excel in delivering world class standards and live and breathe the brands standards.
Essential Functions
To work with the conference and banqueting team to ensure timely and accurate breakdown and set up of event business as well assisting in the organisation and preparation of equipment and supplies.
* Completing final breakdown of functions; clearing the room or returning equipment to its proper locations.
* Accurately extracting information from Event Orders in relation to set up and catering requirements.
* Occasionally leading a team of staff in event turn around duties.
* Setting upcoming business including the moving of furniture and equipment.
* Setting up, stocking, and maintaining work areas.
* Setting rooms and catering stations as per our standards for rooms and breakout areas.
* Responding to ad hoc requests from clients and management team.
* Responsibly setting/storing onsite AV equipment.
* Maintaining a safe, healthy, secure workplace; following all protocols and ensuring public areas are free of hazards in preparation for guest attendance.
* Moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects while adhering to manual handling requirements.
Requirements:
* Excellent organisation and communication skills.
* Capable of prioritizing your workload and managing time effectively.
* Proactive thinker, adept in problem solving.
* Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours
* Punctual and presentable at all times.
* Comfortable with high volumes of manual handling.
* Ability to work independently using own initiative or to effectively lead and direct a team.
* Experience in events, conferencing, or banqueting preferred but not required.
