Job overview
We are pleased to advertise a maternity cover post at The Bridge Special School in Telford.
This role is part of an integrated special school nursing team across Shropshire and Telford. The post holder based at The Bridge School will work at least 1 day every half term at the Severndale School. There may also be times when staff need to work flexibly across our school sites on request.
Operational hours are Monday- Friday 08.30-16.30; however, on occasions there may be the need for the post holder to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including seeing the children in their own homes or other community settings and supporting a 24/7 end of life care package where appropriate.
The post holder's main duties will be during core school hours; annual leave must be taken during school holidays, following a request and approval process to ensure the service is covered throughout the year.
The post holder will need to be able to meet the travel requirements of the role.

Main duties of the job
* To have responsibility for a delegated workload as agreed with the Team Leader and senior nurse.
* To work in partnership and demonstrate excellence in communication with school staff, professional teams, parents, carers, and children.
* Contribute to the identification and prevention of child abuse or neglect in line with national and local child protection guidance and procedures.
* To actively engage and encourage the involvement of service users/carers in the planning and delivery of care.
* To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care for children & young people in school as appropriate to their individual needs under the supervision of a senior nurse.
* To provide training and supervision to support workers in the school environment delivering care to children, ensuring delegated nursing tasks are safely and effectively undertaken.

Training and Qualifications
* First Level Registration - RN Child/RSCN/Learning Disability
* Evidence of consolidation experience post registration
Experience
* Demonstrate relevant and recent post registration experience working within an environment supporting children and young people with both complex/acute health needs.
* Able to meet the travel requirements of the job.
Knowledge and Skills
* The ability to establish good working relationships with families and multi-disciplinary team members.
* Experience of liaison with multi-disciplinary team working.
* Awareness of child protection issues.
* Ongoing awareness of recent developments in practice and research including local and national guidelines.
* Understanding of clinical governance and risk management and their implications for the service.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Competent in the use of IT.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
