The University of Huddersfield’s Institute of Railway Research (IRR) provides specialist research and consultancy to UK and international clients. Our team consists of specialist railway engineers and researchers, many of whom have extensive industry or rail research experience.
We work across all sectors of the industry from heavy to light rail and from infrastructure to vehicle engineering. Our work encompasses major research projects which shape the future of the industry at national or European level and sector specific research & development (R&D) or consultancy which helps our clients make strategic or tactical decisions.
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our rail vehicle dynamics / wheel-rail interface engineering team as a Research Fellow.
You will bring your knowledge and experience in mathematical modelling and simulation of mechanical engineering systems, ideally in a railway or related environment together with the adaptability to apply your knowledge and experience to a variety of practical engineering problems. With a Doctoral qualification in a relevant area, you will have a track record of delivering key aspects of R&D projects in relevant areas, together with excellent communication skills to help you present your work to a range of stakeholders.
As a member of the IRR team, you will have access to over £15m of advanced full-scale test facilities and will contribute to the development of these. Further information can be found at: Institute of Railway Research.
