Description Suffolk County Council - Suffolk Armed Forces Covenant Board, Various locations in Suffolk / Hybrid Expenses paid (milage, parking and refreshments) As and when required to attend meetings, 16 days (32 half days) per year Volunteer basis for 3 years Reference: 0961 Required from mid-March 2025 The Suffolk Armed Forces Covenant Board is seeking its 4th Armed Forces Commissioner for Suffolk who will take over in mid-March 2025 for a 3-year period. This politically independent and partnership focused volunteer role, links to the Suffolk Armed Forces Community Covenant through which local authority Leaders in Suffolk pledged support to the UK Armed Forces community in October 2012. Hosted by Suffolk County Council, the role includes Chairing the 3 board meetings each year including helping to set the agenda, provide leadership input into strategic action planning, engaging public sector services and championing the Armed Forces Covenant. Whilst it’s not a prerequisite for a candidate to have directly served in the UK Armed Forces, they will need to engage and learn about issues affecting the local UK Armed Forces community: regular, reserve, service families and veterans’ community.
