The Environmental and Sustainability Officer will be responsible for maintaining and developing the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) and ensuring that all legal compliance requirements are fulfilled. You will drive environmental and sustainability improvements across the organisation and implement necessary changes to meet the company's Net Zero goals and those of their customers.
As the Environmental and Sustainability Officer, your main duties will include:
1. Ensuring safety in all activities
2. Maintaining and developing the ISO 14001 management system
3. Defining and introducing environmental sustainability improvements in all areas of the business
4. Setting and implementing environmental and sustainability targets
5. Working with colleagues to foster a culture of environmental responsibility
6. Liaising with external contractors, agencies, and local authorities
7. Planning and organising internal environmental audits
8. Providing training and education on environmental and sustainability practices to all departments and EHS representatives
9. Managing the day-to-day duties of the EHS representatives
10. Supporting Net Zero working groups to achieve the company's GHG reduction targets
11. Reporting annually on sustainability performance
12. Operating the company's global EHS portal (with training provided)
The candidates will hold an Environmental and/or Sustainability qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Environmental Certificate), and experience in calculating Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emission data and initiating carbon reduction actions. Experience in a production/manufacturing environment is essential, as is the ability to work with internal teams and external contractors, companies, and agencies. Proficiency in MS Office and experience presenting reports and results to the management team are also required.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work to deadlines, apply their own initiative, and communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation. You should be able to work well as part of the management team, be flexible and proactive. Upholding the company's values is also essential.
