Nore Academy is a brand-new SEN school that has recently opened on the Isle of Sheppey.
We will open our doors early in 2025. We will cater for young people aged 11-16 with a primary need of SEMH and other related areas of SEN such as ASD. The first phase of opening, which is ongoing, will see approximately 48 pupils join across KS3 and KS4, many of whom may have been out of school for some time and desperately need support from ambitious, driven teaching and support staff who care deeply about pupils’ emotional as well as academic development. This role will suit an experienced SENCO or SEN officer. The post holder will need considerable knowledge and insight into SEN systems and processes such as EHCPs and annual reviews, as well as the systems within the Local Authority. The post holder will also need to have some expertise and insights into the range of needs and interventions that are relevant to our school setting.
Amongst our team of SEN teachers, we are looking to recruit a science specialist who will teach Science initially to KS3 pupils with special educational needs including social and emotional difficulties. As the school expands, and our pupils move into KS4, we will be widening our curriculum to include GCSE courses.
This role will suit experienced SEN practitioners, primary teachers, or secondary teachers with a proven track record of delivering and/or overseeing Science as a subject leader or specialist teacher.
All successful candidates will have ambitious expectations for all pupils and a desire to drive high standards and educational outcomes. All successful candidates will also have a willingness to take on new skills and approaches to meet pupils' educational and emotional needs.
Who we are looking for:
* Qualified teachers or ECTs with experience in SEN, primary, or secondary education, be that within special or mainstream settings.
* A Science specialist with the subject knowledge and classroom practice to teach across both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
* An ability and willingness to teach additional subjects as required.
* A commitment to motivating learners while challenging and supporting them to achieve their potential.
* Candidates who are child-centred, organised, resourceful, and proactive.
* Candidates with a desire to continually improve their own teaching and classroom practice.
This is a full-time, permanent position on the teachers’ pay scale open to UQT/ECT/MPS/UPS + SEN allowance.
