Wood is recruiting a Process Discipline Manager to join our exciting team to support and assure delivery excellence across our Process and Energy business. This role is based in Stockton and hybrid working with the expectation of working 3 days from our Stockton office. LI-Hybrid Responsibilities The Role As the Process Discipline Manager, you will be responsible for functional management and development of discipline engineering resources and governance of discipline practices and procedures. Provide leadership to the Process Engineering team within Stockton and have functional oversight of the performance of all discipline engineering in their assigned business grouping. You will act as a discipline subject matter expert to support and drive engineering excellence across wider organisation. You should lead by example, consistently displaying and enforcing the Company’s values and behaviours, role modelling commitment to the highest standards of safe and ethical behaviour and creating an inclusive work environment. In this role, you will be contributing to the delivery of Engineering excellence through: Managing and leading office Discipline teams. Executing assigned Function & business objectives. Providing discipline expertise to the business including Technical Authority responsibility where assigned. Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities. Recruitment, development, and retention of motivated and competent people. Supporting and supervising the Office discipline team. Performance reporting to Office senior management. Look ahead to determine and obtain needed resources to complete plans Support the Head of Discipline to identify and pursue innovation opportunities for discipline, including emerging technologies within the discipline area Support the Head of Discipline to identify and pursue opportunities for margin enhancement including through HVEC utilisation Strategy and Development / Business Development Provide support to the business development process to identify and win new work Support strengthening and deepening the use of workshare Collaboratively produce discipline input to proposals with other discipline heads People and capability Identify and communicate to the Head of Discipline the actions needed to implement the engineering group strategy within the discipline area Line Management of direct reports, including: setting targets and objectives; pay reviews, performance reviews, career progression, training and development. Actively supports recruitment, selection, transfers and promotion of resources to meet succession and business plans Support the development and retention of motivated and competent people In conjunction with the Head of Discipline identify the discipline team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development specified by professional or regulatory institutions, to build their professional capabilities Ensures competence of Discipline Engineers within the Office. Identification of competence gaps and identify/organise technical training or on-the-job development to close gaps Builds an inclusive team culture which recognizes the value that different perspectives and cultures bring Governance, Policies and Procedures Continuous promotion of and, adherence to the discipline-specific procedures and providing feedback for continuous improvement Support the application and development of discipline processes and procedures in accordance with Wood policies and requirements, including codes and legislation, and provide guidance on regulatory and legislative issues related to their discipline Support Project Delivery Assurance as required – including a system of reviews and assurance activities on projects Qualifications What makes you remarkable? Expected: MSc, MEng or equivalent professional qualification or BSc, BEng or equivalent with extensive relevant experience Chartered Engineer or recognised equivalent Experience in a lead engineer or management role Proven core Process Engineering skills, including design experience A self-motivated, proactive individual with high achievement drive and initiative, excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organisational awareness Ability to impact and influence fellow workers Demonstration of customer focus and ability to respond to customer needs whilst achieving project and corporate objectives Display analytical and innovation skills to manage new technology Experience with process simulation software Experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals or Chemicals sector
