We're looking for a passionate Fixed Asset Accountant to join our Capital Accounting team. In this role, the Fixed Asset Accountant will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Fixed Asset Register, with an emphasis on the commissioning of new assets. Additionally, they will oversee the General Ledger in accordance with National Grid's accounting policies and control framework. This includes ensuring the accuracy of data flows from interfaced systems, processing transactions, conducting month-end close activities, performing balance sheet reconciliations, and maintaining the chart of accounts.
This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we'd hope to see you at least two days per week but you're welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We're happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
What You'll Do
* Management of the Fixed Asset Register to ensure information recorded and reported is timely, accurate and in line with National Grid accounting policies.
* Ensuring that Fixed Asset transactions are completed on a timely and accurate basis.
* Management of the Fixed Asset close cycle related to the fixed asset register at month and year end.
* Maintenance of the Chart of accounts relating to Fixed Assets plus other standing data.
* Capex Cash flow forecasting.
* Balance sheet reconciliations including FAR/GL reconciliation and control accounts, understanding and corroborating variances between the GL and sub-ledger.
* Reporting requirements including, but not limited to, quarterly forecasting and analytical reviews.
* Support on implementation of ad-hoc fixed asset projects as required by the business.
* Proactively support the implementation of Fixed Asset accounting policies and systems changes relating to Fixed assets.
* Maintenance, support and development of SOX Controls and testing.
* Any other reasonable request made by management.
What You'll Have
* Fully Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA etc).
* Understanding of Balance Sheet reconciliation.
* Fixed Assets reporting.
* Finance partnering.
* SAP understanding.
* Good understanding of core financial processes.
* Experience of implementing and managing ongoing compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
* Proactive self-starter with ability to manage own workload, to time and desired levels of quality.
* Ability to set and manage customer expectations and manage key stakeholders.
* Experience in leveraging technology (e.g., RPA, CCMs (continuous controls monitoring) to improve overall control environment will be desirable.
* Experience of a regulated utility environment will be a plus.
* Strong stakeholder management, influencing and collaboration skills.
* Strong results orientation.
