Just a mile north of the city centre, it's a treasure trove of natural wonders dating back more than 350 years.Heritage Portfolio is looking to recruit an experienced Retail and Events Manager for the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. We are looking for an inspirational and creative leader with experience with a high-volume catering operation. The role will deputise for the Operations Manager and will lead the retail and events offering within the main John Hope Gateway building, working alongside the other retail managers, supervisors and kitchen teams. The role is 80% operational and requires a high level of attention to detail and collaboration with the RBGE onsite teams as well as the Operations Manager to regularly review process and procedures.What you'll doFull management and accountability for the John Hope Gateway, ensuring retail operations are within budget and in line with the contractual agreement.Development of retail menus with the Head Chef, while ensuring all areas (café, lodge, and mobile units) adhere to food safety and health policies.Staff training and compliance, with annual improvement plans and high levels of team engagement, performance, and client satisfaction.Effective financial management, including P&Ls, rostering, payroll, and business operations, ensuring all targets are exceeded and processes followed.Successful client relationships, sponsorships, and the mobilisation of new offers, alongside delivering sustainability and growth initiatives at the venue.Regular audits, risk assessments, and the implementation of operational procedures to maintain high standards, including staff development and IIP accreditation.Please note travel and overnight stays will be required to undertake training and business requirementsWhat you'll bringAbility to expertly manage senior stakeholders and often challenging client relationshipsExtensive experience in delivering high-quality hospitality operationsProven experience in managing P&L accounts and driving profitabilityProven operational knowledge, skills and experience in managing multi-site/multi service operationsAchieve set, standards and operate to performance criteria, for example health and safety, hygieneWhat we offer:Working with Heritage Portfolio is more than a job; it's a chance to be part of something greater.You'll belong in a company and team that values you for you; you'll act with purpose and have an impact through your everyday actions; and you'll be able to thrive in your own way.
