To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care. To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management, and support more junior staff to do likewise To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working with out direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences. Access to advice and support from a senior Occupational Therapist is available if required, clinical work is not routinely evaluated To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner To represent the Trust externally regarding the Occupational Therapy Inpatient services provided to patients in the General Medicine Directorate as delegated by the Head and Deputy Head Occupational Therapist or the Head of Therapies. To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi-pathologies; use advanced clinical reasoning skills and assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition. Formulate and deliver an individual Occupational Therapy treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills e.g. Occupational Therapy treatment techniques, cognitive assessment, patient education, exercise classes and other alternative options.
