We specialise in the design and manufacture of ground-breaking renewable-energy technology products.
We are now recruiting for a Group Financial Controller.
The Group Financial Controller has overall responsibility for the centralised finance team based in the UK (9 staff) reporting directly to the Group CFO. This role will work closely with the team to deliver a strong control environment, leading to a successful annual external audit, and ensuring excellent financial controls across the Group.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
1. Lead and manage the Group’s finance team, providing mentorship and fostering a collaborative work environment.
2. Direct line management of senior managers across the finance team (including payroll), Project NPD, and Financial Reporting.
3. Ensure effective development, training, and performance management for the finance team.
4. Foster a “One Team” approach, ensuring no single points of failure or dependencies on key individuals.
Financial Reporting and Controls:
1. Lead the preparation, consolidation, and analysis of the Group’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
2. Ensure compliance with statutory accounting requirements and corporate governance standards.
3. Maintain and enhance robust processes for monitoring balance sheet reconciliations.
4. Establish, maintain, and continuously improve the internal control framework.
Strategic Financial Support:
1. Partner with the CFO and FP&A manager to provide financial insights that support business strategy and growth.
2. Prepare and consolidate Group cashflows and manage the Group Treasury Function.
3. Support the Project NPD team in finance due diligence on key projects.
Audit and Taxation:
1. Lead the external audit process and support the Financial Reporting Accountant.
2. Ensure the consolidated and subsidiary accounts are completed and submitted in line with the Group financial reporting timetables.
3. Work collaboratively with Groups tax advisors to manage the Group’s tax planning.
4. Build and maintain relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
System and Process Improvements:
1. Continuously evaluate and improve financial systems, tools, and processes.
2. Implement best practices in financial reporting and compliance.
Standard Responsibilities:
1. Participate in an annual performance review programme for all direct reports.
2. Work in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Group.
3. Observe strict rules of confidentiality.
4. Comply with Health and Safety Regulations.
5. Undertake other duties as assigned on an adhoc basis.
Measures:
1. Performance measured against set objectives relevant to the role.
2. Defined performance indicators, such as accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
3. Departmental Net Promoter Scores.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
1. A professional financial qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 5 years experience post qualification.
2. At least 7-10 years of relevant experience in financial management.
3. Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
4. Proven experience in managing a team.
5. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
6. Strong proficiency in financial software and systems, with advanced Excel skills.
7. Exceptional communication skills.
8. High attention to detail and accuracy.
Desirable:
1. Experience in a private equity-backed environment.
2. Tax planning strategies.
3. Familiarity with ERP systems.
