A vacancy has arisen within the Quality Division within the West Integrated Health Community (IHC) for a full time Primary Care Clinical Governance Manager. We would like applications from dynamic clinical leaders with a sound clinical governance and management background who are keen to start or develop their career in primary care. To undertake this post, you must hold a relevant clinical qualification. The role involves leading a small team to support the clinical governance agenda for Primary Care contractors, and to provide expert knowledge and advice on the nuances of Primary Care within the Health Board. The post requires an individual who can work autonomously and as part of a wider team and will suit someone who is confident, with excellent communication skills to build good working relationships with key stakeholders which include GP practices, Dental Practices, Community Pharmacies and Optometrists alongside Health Board colleagues and professionals from other sectors. The Primary Care Clinical Governance Team is a Pan North Wales team to reflect the contractor base it supports. The team have line management through the three IHC Quality Governance teams and a strategic steer from Head of Quality and Deputy Executive Medical Director. This role will be line managed through West Quality Governance Team and will also be able to access peer support from across all Health Boards in Wales. The post requires an individual who is able to chair complex meetings both within the Health Board and to support primary care contractors in the delivery of the clinical governance agenda. The successful candidate needs to have exceptional IT skills and be able to use Microsoft word to a high level including being able to create, interpret and navigate Excel. Knowledge and skills linked to Datix (or an equivalent incident management software) is essential; training is available on Datix, but it expected that the post holder is able to quickly navigate what in essence is a database. The successful candidate will need to be able to travel to various primary care sites across North West Wales for which travel expenses will be reimbursed. The role would be based at Eryldon in Caernarfon and there is flexibility for hybrid working. Main Tasks and Responsibilities: Provision of expert knowledge and advice in relation to Primary Care Contractors Development and management of Primary Care Contractor Quality Assurance Visits and processes Management of incidents, complaints, and mortality reviews and instigation of associated investigations and follow up as appropriate Development and management of relationships with Primary Care Contractors and key groups To provide timely informative reports for, and attend, clinical governance, and other associated meetings Lead on and coordinate Primary Care Contractors to ensure compliance with appropriate regulations such as Putting Things Right and Duty of Candour Work closely with the Health Boards Primary Care Contractor Teams, IHC Primary Care Teams and Medical Directors To provide training, support and advice on quality issues, patient safety, patient experience, clinical governance, and risk management to all staff Support quality and safety improvement work Complete presentations and report writing Provide direct line management for the Clinical Governance Officer and Clinical Governance Facilitator On occasion deputise for the Clinical Governance Lead For informal discussion please contact Mary Lloyd-Jones, Clinical Governance Lead on 0774 7794 761 or mary.lloyd-jones@wales.nhs.uk or Katie Procter, Primary Care Clinical Governance Manager via email at katie.procter@wales.nhs.uk
