About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant school community located in Chorley, Lancashire. The ideal candidate will possess a genuine desire to make a significant impact on the lives of students by providing exceptional behavioural support. This full-time, long-term position calls for an individual who can work collaboratively with teaching staff to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with classroom teachers to implement individual behaviour plans.
2. Provide in-class support to students with a range of behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties.
3. Employ strategies to promote positive behaviour and effective classroom management.
4. Act as a role model, demonstrating patience, understanding, and respect for students at all times.
5. Assist with the development and delivery of personalised learning activities suited to individual needs.
6. Monitor and record student progress, adapting support techniques as necessary.
7. Encourage student engagement, motivation, and participation within the classroom.
8. Facilitate small group and one-on-one sessions aimed at addressing specific behavioural goals.
9. Liaise with parents, carers, and other professionals to update on student progress and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings as required.
10. Participate in training and staff development opportunities related to behaviour management and special educational needs.
Qualifications:
1. NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
2. Proven experience in a similar role supporting children with behavioural challenges.
3. Solid understanding of strategies for managing challenging behaviour in an educational setting.
4. Good literacy and numeracy skills.
5. First Aid qualification is desirable.
