Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Interim General Counsel to join our client, a UK bank. In this role, you will oversee all legal matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while providing strategic legal guidance to the executive team. Your expertise will be crucial in navigating complex legal challenges, managing legal risks, and supporting business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide legal advice on banking regulations, corporate governance, and contractual matters.
* Oversee and manage the bank's legal department, including external counsel relationships.
* Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including those from the FCA and PRA.
* Advise on mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
* Develop and implement legal policies and procedures.
* Liaise with regulatory bodies and represent the bank in legal proceedings as necessary.
Qualifications:
* UK Qualified solicitor with extensive experience in financial services or banking law.
* Strong understanding of UK banking regulations and compliance issues.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
