We are looking for someone who can help us redefine what's possible for our operation. What is the role? Gatwick Airport is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and multi skilled technician to join the Specialist Systems Engineering team, focused on delivering the highest maintenance standards and customer experience. Working as part of a team on a 24/7 shift roster, they will be responsible for carrying out corrective and preventative maintenance activities on a diverse range of assets at Gatwick Airport. They will ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in line with our Maintenance Policy and completed safely within the boundaries of our Risk and Method Statements. This role is critical in supporting a diverse range of assets and complex systems, with key assets including walk through metal detectors, cabin baggage X-Ray machines, Liquid explosive detection systems, Flight Information Display Screen systems, CCTV, CEM door control readers, body scanners, tray return systems, Standby / Back-up Power Generators, Pumping Stations and associated water infrastructure, trash rakes, barriers, street lighting, water quality analysers, water treatment plant, and the associated infrastructure serving our ponds, lagoons and waterways. What will you do? Undertake planned preventative/reactive/corrective maintenance, mindful of asset performance and operational requirements. Review asset performance data and carry out work as required to improve performance. Undertake tasks requiring in-depth technical competence in electrical/mechanical/control system engineering or other tasks falling within other engineering disciplines which you have skills for or have been trained in. Use Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (e.g. Ultimo) as required. Receive & close work orders, enter data accurately and use system data to drive individual and asset performance. Ensure all engineering and operational records are updated to meet business, regulatory and manufacturer requirements. Take responsibility for your own safety and the safety of those around you as part of your legal responsibility such as the wearing of PPE, completing mandatory training and reporting H&S accidents, incidents and near misses. Do you have what we're looking for? Advanced modern apprenticeship (Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic) or equivalent. Core skill/bias of Electrical/Mechanical Engineering to at least ONC level (Level 3) Technical experience working in a maintenance environment. Ability to understand and interpret electrical and mechanical schematic drawings. Class B UK driving licence. Experience of Surface & Foul Water assets and associated infrastructure (desired) Understanding of power generators (desired) What's it like to work here?
