Position: Teaching Assistant Location: Derby Salary: £22,102.72 - £23,621.50 (FTE £25,729.60 - £28,059.60) Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent, Term time only Start Date: 1st May 2025 We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to join a new provision supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Due to open summer 2025, the provision is a brand-new, purpose-built special school in Derby, dedicated to providing outstanding education and support in a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment where every child can achieve their full potential. The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will support the educational, social, and emotional development of students. Your responsibilities will include: Supporting the class teacher in delivering lessons and activities tailored to the needs of students. Providing one-to-one and small group support to help students engage in learning. Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Promoting positive behavior and emotional regulation using agreed strategies. Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment. Supporting students with personal care, where necessary, in a dignified and respectful manner. What We are Looking For Experience working with children, ideally in a SEND or educational setting (desirable but not essential). A passion for supporting children with ASC and SEMH needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships. Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Relevant qualifications, such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, are desirable but not essential.
