We are currently recruiting a Mechanical/Electrical Engineer to join a leading engineering company involved in the design, build, and installation of CNC Machinery across the globe.
This role will require the successful candidate to carry out a range of PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) duties including machine power up, calibration, and final factory acceptance testing before aiding with site installation.
Interested candidates will ideally be time served with a strong Electrical Background paired with good mechanical skills and working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Demonstrable experience working with machine tools is a must.
Candidates will be required to travel as part of this role which could include 3-4 trips per year - additional premiums would apply for this.
This role would suit someone with a Service/Commissioning Background within the machine tool sector.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 37 hours
Role Description:
1. Check that the machine is built to the customer's specifications as detailed within the Factory Order.
2. Carry out the tasks on the inspection checklist, problem-solving and making mechanical and program adjustments where required.
3. Ensure that the machine is prepared for customer demonstration.
4. Carry out machine demonstrations to the customer during machine acceptance.
5. Work with the engineering & build team in the completion of any internal or customer non-conformances, to support a closed-loop feedback and prevent reoccurrence.
6. Oversee the machine shipment as it leaves our plant.
7. Complete the inspection documentation and final report.
8. When required, install, test, and commission the machine on the customer's site dealing with non-conformances during the rebuild and commissioning phase.
9. Support the Service / Aftermarket departments on retools and refits where necessary.
10. Undertake troubleshooting internally and on the customer's site.
11. Work with and promote the 5S initiative at all times.
12. Support and promote the “Right first time” working practice.
Qualifications / Skills:
1. Time Served Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical)
2. Demonstrable experience working in a similar role
3. Working knowledge of Siemens 840D / Sinumerik 1
4. Knowledge of Fieldbus/Profinet
5. Experience working within a machine tool installation or service role
6. Knowledge of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and control systems for CNC machinery.
