Role – Quantity Surveyor, Infrastructure Location – Suffolk Purpose of the role: The role will require you to be part of a core dedicated site team; you will be responsible for key elements of the efficient and delivery and administration of the contract to both client and sub-contractors and maximising quality, service and probability. What will you be doing: As part of the delivery team, you will be a lead member in the administration of the contract and commercially reporting and advising the operations team on a weekly and monthly basis. Satisfying Client deadlines for estimates and quotations whilst applying principles of profit maximisation and protecting Companies interests. Understanding and advising on the terms and conditions of the main contract and also the subcontracts, which may also include negotiation with the subcontractor for the agreement thereof. Participate in creating a safe working environment. Produce Subcontract documentation including negotiation of terms and conditions, prices, and programme. Management of subcontract works packages including, interim assessments of the amount due and subsequent change management. Produce and issue all commercial notices, to both the Client and Subcontractors, as required by the form of contract. Manage change in a timely manner in accordance with the form of contract, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations. Produce, submit, and agree monthly applications, to the Client, in accordance with the form of contract. Liaise with operational and engineering staff to ensure site records are kept to the standard required. Produce detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliation’s (CVR) as required by the business unit or project. Produce and maintain a detailed ‘Cost Plan’, tracking and forecasting expenditure, including detailed schedules of Subcontractor ‘liabilities’ and use of Oracle based cost analyses. Interpret and critically evaluate expenditure reports produced by internal cost systems. Attending weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with the client and subcontractors. Apply the principles of ‘Doing the right thing’ in maximising value and profit. Be available to assist estimating and bid teams with contractual expertise. Role Dimensions Supporting the teams commercially in the profitable delivery of the project., Effectively monitor, records and report costs on the project Forecast whole life spend and highlight risks and opportunities to the team Able to Understand what is being delivered and the budget for the works. Support your team and all stakeholders in delivering a successful and safe product for the client. Controller of clear and concise correspondence with Suppliers and Client Ensure clear Accurate and appropriate record keeping is being collated by the team Mentoring of and development of subordinates. Person Specification Excellent communication skills A pro-active approach to all the commercial aspects associated with the project. Knowledge of the construction environment Good understanding of Excel and similar commercial and financial systems Be able to demonstrate a track record of working at or attributes appropriate to SQS level Have good working knowledge and experience with the NEC form of contract or similar, and measuring work in accordance with the Method of Measurement for Roads and Bridges. Be a member of, or working towards, becoming a member of a Professional body, RICS or ICES.
