SEN Learning Support Assistant - Barking and Dagenham - January Start

Timeplan Education are looking for strong, dynamic, and resilient Learning Support Assistants to work at an SEN school in the borough of Barking and Dagenham. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting students with special educational needs and ensuring they have the best opportunities to succeed in a nurturing, structured environment.
Job Requirements
Providing dedicated 1:1 and group support to students with diverse needs, including ASD, ADHD, and other learning disabilities
Assisting students in achieving their individual EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) targets
Supporting teaching staff in delivering a well-structured curriculum adapted to each student's specific requirements
Encouraging positive behaviour and assisting with the implementation of behaviour management strategies
Helping students engage in sensory activities, tailored to suit their learning needs and preferences
Utilizing communication tools like Makaton, PECS, or other communication aids to facilitate learning and engagement
Monitoring and recording students' progress, behaviour, and development for review meetings and individual education plans
Maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom environment by following safeguarding procedures and policiesThe Ideal Candidate Must Have:
Experience working within a SEN or educational setting, ideally with children or young adults with special needs or be open to completing relevant training regarding working within SEN environments.
A strong understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning disabilities
Ability to build trusting relationships with students, encouraging a sense of independence and self-confidence.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for working collaboratively with the team, students, and parents#.
Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students who may present challenging behaviours
An enhanced DBS check registered with the update service or be willing to apply for a new one
A flexible, positive attitude and a genuine passion for working with SEN students
Relevant qualifications (such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are advantageous but not essential for candidates with experience.Benefits to You
