We are recruiting for a Clinical Lead for our mental health charity in North Herefordshire. This is a senior role within The Cart Shed Charity, leading our team of OTs, Mental Health Nurses and Art Psychotherapists as they support participants in our woodland setting.
The role is full-time and includes 3 days of clinical delivery of our programmes in the woods and 2 days managing referrals to the service. You will be providing clinical supervision to our exceptional team and inspiring them in their practice as well as sharing joint responsibility for quality practice with our CEO.
As Clinical Lead you will have responsibility for management and supervision of all clinical staff, performance evaluation, ensuring quality CPD, liaison with other external professionals, managing the referral process to ensure it is effective and meets the needs of participants, reporting to trustees as well as hands-on work alongside other members of the team in service delivery.
The Cart Shed is an innovative and established charitable organisation utilising woodland and OT principles to support people from the age of ten. Responsible to:The Cart Shed CEO
Key Relationships:All clinical staff, project staff, CEO, Trustees and volunteers
Objective: To manage and lead all clinical staff ensuring effective clinical governance for The Cart Shed Charity. To work in partnership with the CEO on the development of clinical and business strategy sharing joint accountability for the quality and performance of The Cart Shed Charity.
Main Duties: Governance
1. To manage and supervise all clinical staff.
2. To advise on matters of clinical policy and practice, staffing, education and training.
3. To evaluate performance of both service and clinical staff.
4. To use evaluation to inform clinical and business strategy development.
5. To recruit and develop clinical employees.
6. To provide relevant clinical training and continuous development opportunities.
7. To facilitate practice education alongside clinical and academic colleagues and ensure that trainee/student clinicians are managed and assessed appropriately in accordance with their training requirements.
8. To provide quarterly reports for the CEO to present to the trustees.
9. To oversee management of the referral process and waiting list to ensure effective and timely outcomes for participants that have been referred.
10. To ensure The Cart Shed charity fulfils its legal, statutory and regulatory responsibilities.
11. To be aware of all risk assessments (participants, staff, site environment) for project activity and raise Health & Safety concerns where appropriate.
Clinical Responsibilities
1. Undertake initial assessment of participants via the referral process to determine their suitability for provision.
2. Support participants to engage in therapeutic activities across a range of different funding streams.
3. Work with participants to explore what they would like to gain from attending and support them to set SMART goals to achieve this.
4. Work alongside other members of the team to set up the day for delivery of sessions.
5. Participate in daily handovers with other members of the team.
6. Signpost to, refer to, and liaise with external providers/services, as well as family members, as appropriate to support participants.
7. Monitor and evaluate participant progress and adapt therapeutic interventions accordingly.
8. Offer therapeutic and wellbeing interventions in line with the values and ethos of the service and the resources available.
9. Support participants in mental health crisis.
10. Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive clinical records, as well as data and records required by different funders.
11. Participate in all mandatory training.
12. Be a student educator or participate in the education of students on placement at TCS.
Reimbursement of expenses: expenses may be reimbursed, such as mileage and stationary, upon presentation of claim form and receipts by 7th of the month following that in which expenses occurred. Failure to submit expenses form by this date will mean expenses are forfeit.
Confidentiality: Confidential information concerning the company, its clients and its directors must remain as such at all times, both during and after the period of employment.
Termination Notice: Either party must give one month’s notice if they decide to terminate the contract. The contract becomes automatically void if one of the party’s contravenes the terms of the contract.
