Saffron Walden Mencap Society is a small local charity based in North West Essex, committed to providing a variety of social activities, clubs, trips, and events for our members, who are all adults and young people with learning disabilities.
We are passionate about giving our young members an opportunity to socialise with their peers and go out on a Friday evening to a place of their choice and with whom they choose.
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Go With Our Flow Companion. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting members, aged 16 to 25, taking part in a range of activities and experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supporting young members to participate in social activities, trips, and events.
2. Assisting members to make choices about their preferred activities and destinations.
3. Providing companionship and encouragement to members, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
4. Ensuring the safety and well-being of members during activities.
5. Communicating effectively with members, staff, and volunteers.
6. Supporting members to develop their social skills and independence.
7. Accompanying young members to locations of their choice on Friday evenings.
