Salary: £35,785 per annum + Paid Overtime + Shift Premiums
Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role:
As a Welding & Grinding Technician, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the rail network, specialising in welding and grinding to repair and join rails. Working outdoors in all conditions, you’ll be part of a team ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the railway. This role requires working near fast-moving trains, so safety is paramount.
Key Responsibilities:
* Specialise in welding and grinding to repair rails – you will be using Arc & Aluminothermic methods.
* Work outdoors, in all weather, day and night
* Lead and support a team to ensure safe and efficient work delivery
* Follow strict safety protocols and communicate effectively with team members
What You’ll Bring:
* Technical knowledge in maintenance and faulting
* A commitment to safety and problem-solving
* NVQ Level 1 or 2 in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience)
* Full UK driving licence (Category B)
* MMA 1-4 welding qualification
Additional Requirements:
* Flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends
* Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
* Ability to pass safety, medical, and driving assessments
Salary and Benefits:
* £35,785 per annum, 35-hour week (with paid overtime)
* 30 days’ annual leave (excluding bank holidays)
* Shift premiums for nights & weekends
