Summary of Position: The Counseling Center offers services free of charge to all Plymouth State University undergraduate and graduate students. Our diverse staff of mental health professionals employs a multidisciplinary team approach, ensuring close communication and collaboration among staff and with other campus departments and community providers. This position will provide individual and group psychological counseling, crisis response, consultation to faculty and staff, campus outreach, and support for other counseling center needs and projects as appropriate. This role includes providing clinical/emergency crisis response and crisis stabilization for the campus.
Acceptable Minimum Level of Education: Master's
Acceptable Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years
Other Minimum Qualifications:
* Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or a related discipline, with two years of full-time licensed counseling experience in a mental health agency or counseling center.
* NH License or license eligible as a mental health professional.
* Computer skills as required by department for necessary reporting and electronic communications.
* Exemplary written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
* Specialization and/or certification (LADC, Disordered Eating Specialist, EMDR, etc.)
* Technologically adept: proficient in Microsoft Office 365, experience with or a willingness to learn Titanium, CCAPS, and time management software.
* Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion.
* Recent and relevant clinical experience with students, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Job Duties:
* Provides individual and group counseling.
* Consultation services to faculty and staff regarding psychological issues affecting students' mental health.
* Participation in emergency on-call rotation.
* Participation in individual supervision/consultation with the director and presentation at clinical/medical staff meetings.
* Provide outreach and support for campus as needed/requested.
* Other duties as assigned by Director.
Direct Clinical Services:
* Participates in the provision of clinical crisis services;
* Participates in the provision of mental health triage services;
* Provides time-limited individual, couples, and group therapy focused on crisis stabilization;
* Administers and interprets limited assessment measures;
* Responds to campus crises;
* May provide initial screening/assessment of clients and/or individual, couples, or group counseling in non-emergent cases;
* Provides consultation regarding crisis intervention/response and general student well-being; and
* Demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism and serving underrepresented/underserved populations.
Indirect Clinical Service:
* Attends crisis stabilization case consultation and case review meetings;
* Provides recommendations regarding level of care considerations for students in need of crisis stabilization;
* Facilitates collaboration between Counseling Center, medical providers, Dean of Students, and family members;
* Collaborates with community providers specializing in services for PSU students in need of crisis stabilization;
* Receives weekly clinical supervision/consultation;
* Makes policy and procedure recommendations regarding services for students in need of crisis intervention and stabilization.
Administrative Duties:
* Maintains accurate and timely documentation for all clinical interactions and consultations;
* Follows PSU and Counseling Center policies, procedures, and guidelines;
* Attends clinical, medical, and administrative staffing meetings;
* Attends professional development activities and maintains professional licensure;
* May provide presentations and outreach activities to PSU community;
* May develop formal teaching relationships with academic departments;
* As budget allows, may represent Counseling Center in the community and with professional organizations;
* Other related duties as assigned.
