We are looking for a comms hero - someone who wants to help us push our communications further. We're a fairly small council but with massive ambition, and we want the right person to help us get our news to the right audiences. As communications officer, you will sit in the Corporate Services team right at the heart of the council, and your main role will be to protect and enhance our reputation - making sure we effectively communicate to the right people at the right time, using the best method. We need you to know your grammar, and you'll be our style-guide champion. You'll come to work with ideas for how we could do things differently, and you'll be made to feel comfortable to put your opinions forward. There's no two ways about it - this is a really busy and challenging role, and no two days are the same. You will work across all service areas, from waste and recycling, to housing, planning and parking. Your input will be vital in key corporate projects, and we will be looking to you to let us know how best to communicate these. You will also liaise with the media, making sure we foster excellent relationships by responding to their enquiries and keeping them informed. As we do more and more communicating online, you will have excellent digital skills and an in-depth understanding of all social media channels. You will also be able to turn your hand to photography and video to help us communicate using these methods. In return, you will get to work with some fantastic people in a really friendly team. We are passionate about developing our staff, and you will be supported in growing your skills and knowledge. We are a very flexible organisation, so don't worry if you need to work from home or do your hours a little differently - we will do what we can to support you. This is a really exciting opportunity for anyone who is passionate about communications For an informal discussion about this post, please contact Peter Edgar, Communications and Customer Experience Manager, on 01684 272127.
