We are hiring for an Analyst within our Commercial Risk team, with a focus on oil products. This role offer exposure to all parts of the business. From partnering with the front office, to various parts of the middle and back office e.g. Risk, Finance, Credit, IT and more.
The team provides a key function to the business, supporting management and monitoring of the company's risk exposures and valuations. This requires a broad experienced knowledge base, from understanding market movements and trading strategies across various commodities, to helping to maintain and improve ETRM applications. The role requires deep insight into commodities trading and risk management, including physical/paper exposure management, FX exposure, VaR and P&L valuation.
The role can expand with time to bring exposure to other commodities, such as Crude, Biofuels, Refining, Gas & Power.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for the daily position and P&L reporting for selected commodity trading teams, providing commentary on key value generators and changes and attributing and communicating P&L in a meaningful way.
* Monitor traders exposures and adherence to Delegation of Authorities and risk limits.
* Perform daily hedge process as required.
* Daily interaction with relevant trading desks and other front/middle office departments to support business risk management requirements.
* Provide regular commentary on book performance and strategy, showing clear understanding and control to a variety of audiences.
* Review trading books to ensure they are within trading Delegations of Authority and that hedging is carried out correctly each day, including hedging of trading FX exposure.
* Provide management information and analysis as required and proactively seek to provide business beneficial commercial analysis.
* Responsible for weekly/monthly/quarterly controls and input into financial close processes as required for designated business area.
* Support the wider team by utilising cross cover capabilities for other team members and support overall team flexibility.
What we’re looking for / Skills that will help you in the role
* Proven experience in oil products in a risk or front office role.
* Understanding of P&L attribution and valuation.
* Understand standard risk measurement tools e.g. VAR.
* Commercially aware with proven ability to provide input to new business initiatives and models.
* Good communication skills and ability to interact with people at varying levels.
* Analytical and detailed oriented mindset.
* Able to take, and maintain an independent approach and challenge where appropriate.
* Team player.
Please note: This is a full-time position with the job based close to Charing Cross, London. The role is available to be worked in a hybrid capacity of 4 days in the office / 1 day from home.
