Job Purpose
This role is responsible for providing world class legal and business affairs support, with a particular focus on BritBox Original programming.
It will be important for the incoming person to be a self-starter, happy to pick up tasks and projects that may not fall directly in their remit, and be prepared to get involved in everything from strategy development to commercial negotiation, detailed execution and delivery.
Responsibilities:
* Drafting and negotiating content development, commissioning/co-commissioning, co-production, acquisition/pre-sale and sub-distribution agreements for TV programmes to be made available on BritBox’s international SVOD service
* Providing strategic support for BritBox content strategy as a vital, trusted advisor to BritBox’s editorial/commissioning teams
* Managing internal Greenlight processes and related governance
* Developing and maintaining world class processes and templates for content deals
Knowledge and Experience
Required:
* Solicitor or barrister qualified in a UK jurisdiction
* Experience of drafting and negotiating content commissioning/co-commissioning, co-production and acquisition/pre-sale agreements for TV programmes, with a familiarity of industry standards and common issues
* Understanding of the structures and systems (including regulatory systems) within which broadcasters, producers and distributors operate
* Strong understanding of typical underlying rights arrangements for British TV programmes (music, Equity, Writers, etc)
Desired:
* The ideal candidate is likely to have at least 4 years PQE, with at least 2-3 years experience working on content agreements for TV programmes
* Strong relationships with producers and distributors of British TV programmes
* In-house experience at a media company
