Conservation Technician
JPS Restoration are seeking a special person to develop woodworking conservation and restoration skills to join our small team. On the current project, the successful candidate will be shaping and replacing damaged large-section timbers and developing Shipwrighting skills. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to work effectively both independently, and as part of a team. The applicant will utilise hand and power tools to carry out precision tasks, ensuring that their work meets our high standards and client expectations. The work is exacting but rewarding.
o Duties include:
o Effective and safe use of hand and power tools for various restoration tasks.
o Working daily with hardwoods and other aspects of a wooden ship conservation.
o Maintaining a clean and safe workplace by adhering to health and safety regulations, risk assessments and method statements
o Following site rules as set out by JPS and our clients.
o You will have:
o Verifiable experience in quality joinery or a related field
o Essential experience of working with hardwoods and the production by hand of precision joints and quality finishes
o Problem-solving skills with the ability to assess situations and learn quickly. Good communication skills to interact with clients and members of a small team effectively.
o Enthusiasm, willingness to learn new skills and a can-do attitude is key
o A strong work ethic, be reliable and punctual. This is essential in a small team.
