Join an established energy company on a 12-month fixed term contract basis as an ESG Manager! This role will focus on ESG - Environmental, Social, and Governance - and is responsible for developing and driving ESG and Net Zero strategies and programs to reduce and manage ESG risks and environmental impacts. The successful candidate will be expected to actively promote ESG initiatives within the organisation. With offices in Aberdeen and London, this position can be based in either location. The Sustainability Manager should be a self-starter, comfortable working independently and collaborating across multiple business functions.
The position involves broad engagement across all ESG-related workstreams, including tracking and reporting key ESG metrics.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
Environmental
* Developing and implementing an ESG strategy aligned with the organisation's corporate sustainability goals and objectives.
* Managing greenhouse gas emissions intensity, including reporting, forecasting, and implementing reduction strategies.
* Advising on strategies to influence joint venture activities in alignment with environmental objectives.
* Assessing emissions data related to acquisitions to evaluate their impact on the organisation’s ESG profile.
Social
* Providing oversight, direction, and reporting on the organisation’s social impacts.
* Engaging with the internal supply chain to address human rights, labour standards, and equity considerations.
* Coaching and supporting ESG-related committees, including DE&I, Charities, Education, and Social & Wellness initiatives.
* Leading and coaching personnel to enhance ESG awareness and ensure alignment with key performance indicators (KPIs).
Governance
* Offering internal support and guidance on governance structures, practices, and reporting.
* Preparing quarterly shareholder reports, including emissions metrics.
* Monitoring global ESG regulations and best practices to ensure alignment and proactively addressing regulatory changes.
* Leading the preparation of annual sustainability reports, including compliance with SECR and TCFD requirements.
* Engaging with the Board, ESG sub-committee, and Executive Leadership Team on regulatory updates, business processes, and compliance.
* Overseeing internal and external ESG reporting and representing the organization with regulators, stakeholders, and the community.
Applicants to this role require:
* A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Sustainability, Business, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certifications in sustainability or ESG are advantageous.
* Extensive relevant experience in the oil and gas, chemical, or energy industries.
* Proven experience working with external clients and understanding their needs.
* Ability to advocate for and drive ESG initiatives within the organisation.
* Collaborative team player who is also comfortable working independently.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
