Job summary This is a locum trust grade registrar training post in plastic surgery, with up to 3 posts available. We are seeking enthusiastic colleagues to join our busy plastic surgery and hand surgery team based at The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough. Our department delivers a broad and general range of services including: adult and paediatric elective and emergency hand surgery, peripheral nerve injury surgery, breast reconstruction, head and neck surgery, major lower limb trauma, skin cancer, vascular malformations (national referral base), hypospadias, burns, pressure sore and pelvic defect reconstruction, diabetic foot care, spinal cord injuries wound and upper limb care, chest wall reconstruction, and electrochemotherapy. There are existing research links with the regional universities, and a collaborative regional research network. There is a new Academic Surgical Unit being developed across multiple specialties with the support of the Royal College of Surgeons and the University of York. Main duties of the job To maintain the highest clinical standards in the practice of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Undertake any responsibility which relates to plastic and reconstructive surgery, both elective and emergency. Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences inc. sickness Active involvement in audit Continuing professional development (CPD) Any other duties which may be required Job Plan: The posts will be available from February 2025 until August 2025 and there may be the opportunity to extend the contract. Each registrar will form part of a 1 in 7 rota for on call and emergency work. Each registrar will work for one of the consultant teams but will be expected to cross cover activities within the department.
