As a Senior SEND Case Officer, you’ll lead and mentor a team of Casework Officers, ensuring that statutory processes are delivered with excellence, efficiency, and a person-centred approach. This is your chance to take on a key leadership role, helping to shape brighter futures by coordinating tailored educational, health, and care provisions that meet the unique needs of every child.
What You’ll Do
* Lead and Manage: Oversee a team of SEND Casework Officers, providing guidance, mentoring, and quality assurance to ensure high standards in all areas of statutory SEND work.
* Statutory Assessment: Support and oversee the statutory assessment process, ensuring accurate identification of needs and effective, strengths-based provisions.
* Person-Centred Approach: Champion the voices of children, young people, and their families, ensuring they are integral to every decision made.
* EHCP Quality Assurance: Draft, review, and maintain high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring compliance with statutory guidelines and reflecting the aspirations of the child or young person.
* Collaborative Working: Partner with education, health, and social care professionals to coordinate effective, multi-agency assessments and support plans.
* Facilitate Reviews: Ensure provisions remain relevant and robust by leading annual and interim EHCP reviews, advocating for the needs of children and families.
* Complex Case Oversight: Provide expertise and leadership on complex cases, escalating appropriately and ensuring positive outcomes.
* Support Change Initiatives: Lead or contribute to SEND improvement programmes, such as Written Statement of Action priorities or Delivering Better Value in SEND.
About You
We’re seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior SEND Case Officer who:
* Leads with confidence, bringing experience in mentoring and managing teams to deliver high-quality SEND services.
* Has a proven track record of managing statutory processes, including overseeing EHCP assessments and reviews.
* Possesses comprehensive knowledge of SEND legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice (2015), and can apply this knowledge effectively in practice.
* Thrives on collaboration, building trusted relationships with families, schools, health professionals, and other key stakeholders.
* Is highly organised, proactive, and capable of managing a complex and varied caseload while supporting team members to achieve their goals.
* Excels in problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution, demonstrating resilience and a solution-focused mindset.
* Communicates compassionately and clearly, ensuring children, young people, and families feel supported and valued throughout the process.
