Scope: Working within the Global Technical Innovations Group (GTIG), this position will be responsible supporting both the European Manufacturing Organisation (EMO) and GTIG operations in delivering on their objectives. The role may also include projects affecting the wider business including USA, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. Job Summary: As a Product & Process Engineer in the GTIG team, your role involves being a core part of specifying, commissioning and validating automated contact lens equipment You will focus on characterizing processes, minimizing variation, and meeting business requirements. You will offer technical expertise to support various high precision manufacturing processes, aiming to meet performance targets and business goals. This includes process development, validation, continuous improvement, and training. Additionally, you'll assist in introducing new products and automated processes, collaborating closely with the R&D team. Essential Functions & Accountabilities Product & Process Engineers require a wide range of Skills, Behaviours and Experience: Skills Management of individual modules of automated processing lines, from conception to delivery, including Project planning Process debugging and development using process modelling and structured problem solving Literacy in statistical process control Skills in communication tailored to your audience, including being able to engage all the stakeholders in a project. Knowledge of and experience in the stages of process validation Tracking and reporting of capital equipment budgets Behaviours You will be a reliable role model for junior members in the team and may have experience with coaching some of them You form partnerships with colleagues, stakeholders and vendors You are organised and tackle your workload according to your agreed priorities You will be able to recognise your internal customers and know what is critical to quality for them Experience You have at least two years experience in a regulated environment. Experience in Medical Device manufacturing is ideal You will have managed the project workload that puts automated manufacturing equipment in to production which makes a high volume of small, high precision products You have an awareness of Change Control to ISO9001, ideally ISO13485 or 21 CFR 820 Travel Requirements The role involved travel to local UK sites. The role also requires global travel, although this will be less than 5% annually. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The following are desirable but not essential: Optical tooling manufacturing technology and process. Contact lens manufacturing. Design control. Medical Device regulations. Statistical analysis, preferably using Minitab. Work Environment The job requires work to be undertaken in a cleanroom environment with associated gowning requirements Working in an office environment on a PC analysing data and preparing reports. Working in manufacturing areas around equipment with moving parts. May be required to work some extended hours Experience Ideally 1-2 years including work placements in a manufacturing environment, but not essential. Education Degree level qualification in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) related subject.
