• Work in support of and under the direction of a Pre-OperativeAssessment Nurse, providing nursing care andassistancetopatients within defined parameters specified by thePre-OperativeAssessment Nurse (RN).
• Record patient information.
• Provide basic patient care and document that care in the patientrecords.
• Perform Relevant Clinical Skills: Phlebotomy / ECG
• Work effectively with the multidisciplinary teamin order toachieve desired outcomes that promotethe wellbeing of patients.
• Assist theRN’sin the delivery of care to a designated patient group,demonstratingan ability toprioritise such care.
• Assistin the implementation of direct clinical care.
• Determinethe comfort of patients by talking and listening to them and building up a rapport
• Ensure that all care provided by yourself is documented appropriately.
• Recognise changes in patient condition and report to a RN.
• Ensure patient dignity and individual patient needs are met.
• Support RN’s in providing information and advice on health promotion.
• Instigate emergency procedures e.g. fire; CPR.
• Responsible forhigh standardsof cleanliness and follow all guidelines set by infection controlpolicy.
• Undertake training and practice of agreed clinical competencies in basic nursing skills fordesignated area.
• Keep up to date with changes in clinical practice and the effect of these on your role.
• Work as an effective team member of the clinical team and support continued team development.
• Carry out and record basic observation/test results and report changes to a Pre-OperativeAssessment Nurse (RN).

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
