We are currently seeking a skilled Counsellor to join our multi-disciplinary team, to work with us at our rehabilitation centre in Weston-super-Mare.

Job Purpose
* To work as an integrated team member in the delivery of compassion focused treatment for people suffering from addiction.
* To provide individual personalised counselling, guiding clients through personalised assignments alongside working through Steps one to twelve of the AA/NA Fellowship.
* To help create a safe, supportive and caring therapeutic environment, which maximises the opportunity for change to take place.
* To help develop, where appropriate, channels of communication with relevant parties, including family members, friends, care managers, employers, probation officers or any other professional involved in the care of our clients.
Scope Of Responsibilities
* To work with a personal caseload of clients providing an individualised, regularly reviewed care plan which helps clients understand and gain insight into their illness, the treatment and recovery processes and choices available to them.
* To develop, build and engage with individual clients in therapeutic relationships which assists them to better understand and change their self-defeating patterns of behaviour.
* To facilitate or co-facilitate group therapy sessions with clients.
* To provide regular lecture and workshop input to clients.
* To provide information about addiction and emotional wellbeing to encourage family members and friends to access the help and support available to them.
Main Responsibilities
* To develop and use thorough communication and working relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary team at Broadway Lodge to best serve the clients interests.
* To communicate, when and where necessary, appropriate information regarding clients to other relevant agencies.
* To maintain strict confidentiality in relation to all matters relating to Broadway Lodge and work undertaken.
* To promote clients equality, diversity and rights.
* To adhere to a recognised Code of Ethics and Practice BACP, NCS, FDAP.
* To make yourself available for, and attend, regular formal individual and group supervision sessions.
* To support the development, maintenance and promotion of quality services being delivered in a compassionate safe and healthy working environment.
* To be active in the continuing development of professional knowledge and skills.
* To take on an active task which supports service delivery within the counselling team.
General
* Act as an ambassador for Broadway Lodge and encouraging others to do the same.
* Ensure the maintenance of confidentiality in respect of staff, volunteer and client records and all privileged information relating to the services of the Charity, its clients, staff and volunteers and particularly of the area for which directly responsible.
* All staff must be compassionate, sympathetic to and able to project the philosophy and concept of rehabilitation care.
* The philosophy of Broadway Lodge is based on a multi-skilled, cross-departmental approach. Staff, regardless of grade or discipline, are required to participate in this concept.
* Broadway Lodge has in place provision for staff support. Staff are expected to exercise responsibility in accessing and providing whatever forms of support might be appropriate for them to ensure that they are able to offer the professional care for which they are employed.
Person Specification
* Qualified to diploma level 5 or degree level in Counselling and have relevant experience of counselling and group-work in a similar or other related organisational setting.
* Addiction experience is desired but not essential.
* Counsellors must be registered and accredited members of the BACP or NCS (or be willing to work towards accreditation whilst in post).
