The Dorset County Hospital Therapy Team is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable team player to join the Therapies Department as a Senior Therapy Assistant.
The successful candidate will mainly work within our inpatient therapy teams. This may be in the following areas: Elderly Care, Orthopaedics, Stroke and Neuro, Respiratory, and may be on a static or a rotational basis. Experience in healthcare is essential, ideally as a therapy assistant. Basic IT and administrative skills are required. Car drivers only, as part of the role will be supporting home visits.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will assist in treating a wide variety of clinical conditions and work alongside both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, delivering rehabilitation and assisting in the safe and timely discharge of patients. We provide supervision within the team and have training provided for therapy assistants. You are encouraged to develop through appraisals and Continual Professional Development.

Skills, Abilities & Knowledge
* Ability to work on own initiative and confidently work without direct supervision
* Ability to learn new skills to deliver patient care as instructed by qualified members of staff
* Able to work within the multidisciplinary team
* Able to prioritise own workload
* Aware of own limitations
* Participate in data collection
* Experience with IT systems
* Ability to complete allocated projects and meet deadlines
Experience
* Relevant experience (minimum 1 year) of working as a therapy/nursing assistant or similar post
* Experience of working with direct contact with the public
Education, Qualifications & Training
* Good level of education to GCSE Level, including Maths & English (Grade C or above)
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level in healthcare or be willing to work towards
* Must be able to drive a car
