Job summary Applications are invited for a HCPC Registered Senior Biomedical Scientist (Band 7) to join our Proteins Lab within the Clinical Biochemistry Specialist Services department at North West London Pathology. Applicants should have the Specialist Portfolio or a relevant MSc and significant Specialist Proteins experience. The successful applicant would also be required to take on some additional responsibilities in Quality, Training, IT or Health and Safety. Applications from candidates who are very close to achieving Specialist Portfolio or MSc may also be considered. The post holder will be expected to work at Charing Cross Hospital primarily in the Specialist Proteins section but may also be asked to work in one of the other specialist section based on the needs of the service. The Clinical Biochemistry Service is one of the largest in the UK, has more than 150 staff with an annual workload in excess of 15 million tests. Specialist services are centralised mainly at Charing Cross Hospital. Normal working hours for the department are 9.00 to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday. Main duties of the job Candidates would be expected to manage and supervise the work in the Specialist Proteins section and also take on some additional responsibilities in Quality, Training, IT or Heath and Safety. The candidates should have experience in a wide variety of analytical techniques including Sebia instrumentation, electrophoresis, automated analysis as well as authorising results.
