We are looking for an animal-loving, enthusiastic, self-motivated person with professional expertise and IT and social media skills to establish connections in the local community and play a pivotal role in animal welfare. You will enjoy meeting new people, helping to recruit volunteers/trustees/fosterers, organising, and attending local fundraising events. You will also be part of the drive to improve animal welfare throughout the Chiltern area (Bucks & Herts). The Branch Manager will manage the business activities associated with the Branch and Charity Shop, per the Society’s rules, and on behalf of the Branch Trustees. Notably, the manager will also partner with the Animal Care Coordinator to maintain RSPCA Welfare standards and recruit animal fosterers. General Management To have overall responsibility for the charity shop, including staff management and H&S To facilitate the employment, deployment, appraisal, training and discipline of staff Source, bid, secure, and maintain charitable grants Create and run fundraising/PR events and projects in the RSPCA calendar Attend key sub-committee meetings as appropriate Undertake all admin duties as defined by the Trustees Responsible for the recruitment of trustees, volunteers, and animal fosterers Attend Branch Trustee meetings and present relevant information (1 evening a month) Maintain all electronic platforms and social media Ensure staff and volunteers are aware of and adhere to the Branch and National Society policies, procedures, H&S and rules Ensure training needs are identified and brought to the Branch Trustees’ attention Ensure Branch staff have current job descriptions and are aware of their responsibilities. Establish local volunteer groups to support with their own fundraising and events. Future projects - Create and implement an animal welfare awareness programme for primary school-aged children (will require DBS) Communication Responsible for clear and documented communication with all Branch employees and volunteers on matters concerning the Branch and Society. Ensure effective and appropriate communication between the Branch, the Region, and National Headquarters. Responsible for 'Public Relations’ of the Chiltern Branch, using a range of media to promote a positive image of the Branch. Responsible for coordinating guest speakers, school visits, animal centre visits and local community group liaison on behalf of the Branch Trustees. Health and Safety Responsible for all branch safety-related issues; including Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH regulations, Fire Safety - Fire extinguisher/alarm/lighting regular checks, Electrical - annual PAT testing, Hazards - slips and trips, First aid at work and Trading Standards legislation, ensuring that the branch shop and staff are fully compliant. Ensure that all staff have received basic H&S training and are aware of and comply with Health and Safety requirements, including displaying H&S posters in the shop.
