The Role
To support the successful delivery of new and exciting projects, the client is looking for experienced and determined Project Engineers with strong project leadership skills. As part of a small team, candidates should be excellent communicators, self-motivated, and able to adhere to strict deadlines.
In this role, the Project Engineer will work within a cross-functional project team to lead and manage the delivery of highly complex bespoke, robot-based, electro-mechanical systems for factory and process automation. It is crucial to be inquisitive and curious, with the ability to identify problems and facilitate their solutions.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives on challenges, as no two days will ever be the same. A "can-do" attitude and the ability to positively influence project outcomes are essential, along with effective collaboration within the team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the project team to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the expected quality standards.
2. Prepare, maintain, and present project materials in line with the company's project management processes.
3. Collaborate with all members of the Projects Department to continuously improve and provide consistency in project delivery.
4. Act as an ambassador for the Projects Department, advocating for the team while fulfilling responsibilities.
5. Generate and maintain all project reporting documentation according to the company's project management procedures.
6. Monitor design and technical project milestones and deliverables to ensure consistent progress.
7. Liaise with clients to ensure open communication and satisfaction throughout the project delivery process.
8. Work closely with internal departments to effectively manage company resources and assets.
9. Deputise for the Project Director as needed.
About the Ideal Candidate
1. A minimum of three years' experience in a project management or project engineering role.
2. Qualification in project management or equivalent experience.
3. Degree in an engineering-related subject.
4. Demonstrable experience managing teams at all levels in a project environment.
5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
6. Strong relationship-building skills, able to engage effectively at all levels both internally and externally.
7. Capability to manage a busy and adaptable workload.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
9. Competence in organising project meetings, both internally and with high-level customer representatives.
10. Willingness to travel occasionally.
