About The Role A exciting opportunity to join our tech team in Grimsby, this unique role will require you to split your time between the Software Engineering and Application Architect teams. The position offers the opportunity to maintain and enhance our existing code base whilst developing new systems using C#, .Net 8 in AWS Cloud. Define your own and our collective future by working with the latest tools and technology. Key Responsibilities Software Engineer: Maintain and develop new systems using C#, .Net 8 in AWS Cloud. Provide 2nd Level Support for production systems. Offer peer-to-peer support to colleagues. Maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps. Collaborate within a SCRUM team of like-minded professionals. Application Architect Drive the implementation of the reference architecture within the Commercial Ferry sub-domain. Collaborate with various teams to guide architectural decisions. Mentor developers and ensure alignment with the overall technology strategy. Support other teams within the tribe, contributing to architecture decisions and implementation. About You As a software engineer, we expect you to hold a relevant educational background in Computer Science or a similar field, and to have solid experience developing applications using C# and .NET. In the role of Application Architect, your key responsibilities will include defining the target architecture for applications within the sub-domain, collaborating with development teams to make informed architecture decisions, and mentoring developers on best practices and architecture principles. You will actively participate in application architecture communities within the organization, assist in the development and standardization of API and Event contracts, and drive API documentation standards, including observability and discoverability. Additionally, you will provide feedback to the Tribe Architect regarding implementation efforts and challenges, maintain and update the componentization roadmap in collaboration with the Tribe Architect, and promote the modernization roadmap to ensure transparency and awareness among all stakeholders. You will also define and monitor metrics for architecture fitness functions to ensure alignment with strategic goals. As the Application Architect, you will hold the final decision-making authority on the implementation of application architecture within the sub-domain and have the final say on the selection and implementation of inner architecture patterns for back-end systems.
