Who You Are You are a committed and professional social worker with strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal. You possess a relevant social work qualification, such as DipSW, CQSW, or a degree in social work, and are registered with Social Work England. With at least three years of post-qualification experience in a children's social care setting, you are experienced in working with complex cases, including permanence planning and cases from proceedings to adoption. You are adept at forming positive relationships with families and professionals across diverse communities, using creative engagement methods appropriate for different age groups and cognitive abilities. You are knowledgeable in child development, adult mental health issues, substance misuse, domestic abuse, and how these factors influence parenting capacity. What the Job Involves The role involves building and maintaining supportive relationships with families to safeguard children in need of help or protection. You are expected to manage a caseload responsibly, evaluating risk factors and developing contingency plans where necessary. Adopting the Signs of Safety practice model, you will coordinate and implement plans based on comprehensive assessments to enhance children's well-being and safety. Your duties include regular engagement with children and families, developing life-story work with Looked After Children, and conducting assessments in accordance with statutory guidance and policies. You will also chair meetings, liaise with professionals and family networks, and recommend legal actions when necessary. You will respect safeguarding procedures, maintain accurate records, and actively participate in supervision and training opportunities to refine your practice. You will take part in service improvement initiatives and adhere to all relevant council policies and procedures.
